Pipe Thread Guide

The OD or Outside Diameter is the measurement across the end of the pipe.  This table compares the actual thread outside diameter to the nominal sizing in metric or imperial.

The easiest way to measure piping is by directly measuring across the widest part of the thread. Calipers can be useful for this especially when the pipe end is uneven or inaccessible.
